Training and Performance Center Welcomes Mitch Smith as Sports Performance Manager
The Training and Performance Center (TPC), a division of Integrated Wellness Partners, welcomes Mitch Smith, as our new Sports Performance Manager.
Mitch joins TPC with more than 25 years of extensive experience in sports performance, personal training and health club management.
Mitch’s career has been marked by a strong emphasis on athletic development and wellness. Most recently, he served as the Strength Coach at Bridgedale Academy, a distinguished sports and hockey academy in Woodridge, Illinois. During his tenure, he trained numerous student-athletes, many of whom have successfully progressed to play Division 1 college hockey, with several even being drafted into the NHL. His dedication to athlete development extended further as he served as the Strength Coach for Selects Hockey summer camps, solidifying his reputation to athletic training and performance enhancement.
In addition to his coaching experience, Mitch has spent the last eight years working in the medical field, collaborating closely with orthopedic and spine surgeons. This unique background enhances his understanding of injury prevention and rehabilitation, ensuring a holistic approach to athletic training. Mitch is also recognized for his work as an educator and Master Trainer at the national level for FreeMotion Fitness, where he conducted seminars and certification programs for health club professionals. His passion for education is evident in his commitment to teaching student-athletes and members how to create effective wellness plans, set realistic goals, and track their progress.
A graduate of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale with a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Management, Mitch is eager to give back to the community through wellness-related seminars for local employers. He has previously collaborated with area physicians to design patient after-care programs and looks forward to continuing this impactful work.
Certified in CPR and AED, and as a Parisi Training Systems Performance Enhancement Specialist, Mitch’s leadership style is characterized by compassionate listening and motivation. He is dedicated to helping others reach their full potential and he is excited to work with the TPC trainers to enhance functional movement patterns and promote multiplanar movement training.
Mitch lives in Bloomington with his wife, Jennie and two dogs. He enjoyed several years of being a sports parent and trainer of his son Brady, who successfully played for Bloomington Youth Hockey and Division 1 Hockey.
