Trainer Tip Tuesday: Hamstring Stretch and Curl
Hamstring Stretch:
When performing a hamstring stretch, this movement helps to improve your hamstring flexibility, increase leg mobility, and help strengthen the lower back and legs. Make sure while performing the stretch that you keep your back straight, as well as your leg straight when using support from the chair. Use the wall for support if needed.
Standing Hamstring Curl:
This exercise can also help to increase your overall hamstring flexibility, improve balance, while also strengthening the lower back and leg muscles. While performing this exercise, you may utilize the back of the chair as support and bend your knee behind you to about 90 degrees, hold for a couple of seconds and lower again. This exercise movement can be made harder by placing a lower weight dumbbell in the crease behind your knee and continuing to kick back. This will add resistance to the movement.
