“One of the hallmarks of social wellness is being inclusive, not exclusive, with our friendship.” – Laurie Buchanan, PhD
Social wellness refers to the relationships we have and how we interact with others. Social wellness involves building healthy, nurturing and supportive relationships as well as fostering a genuine connection with those around you. Here are some ways that you can foster social relationships even while at home:
- Join an online group such as our Virtual Group Fitness or Carle Health & Fitness Center Book Club
- Do things as a family (even exercise)
- Adopt a pet (or find out how you can be a foster)
- Touch base with someone you haven’t seen in awhile through text, email or video chat
- Call a friend or family member
