How To Stay Motivated To Exercise

Staying motivated to exercise is one of the biggest challenges someone can face. We may feel overwhelmed, intimidated or discouraged at different points in our fitness journeys. This is normal! You may see someone at the gym lifting more than you, or someone on social media with the perfect diet plan. This can be disheartening for some. It is important to remember not to compare yourself to others when it comes to our wellness. This is where intrinsic motivation comes into play. Intrinsic motivation comes from internal factors. This means we are doing something because we are self-driven, for our own benefit, and not relying on external factors to motivate us. Whereas extrinsic comes from external factors and comparison to others. Research shows that intrinsic motivation can be much more effective than extrinsic motivation. Take things a day at a time, remember why you started, and you will be well on your way!
