From the Wellness Team: Wellness Wednesday Trainer Tip – Managing Hypertension

How Can I Lower My Blood Pressure?

The best ways for maintaining a normal, healthy blood pressure are through a healthy diet and regular exercise. Specifically, about 150 minutes per week of moderate intensity aerobic training – such as brisk walking or cycling. Muscular training on at least two days a week is recommended as well. Doing both of these things will also aid in helping maintain a healthy weight, which has a significant impact on blood pressure. Classes provided at CHFC such as Yoga, Pilates, and Tai Chi are great ways to reduce stress which can also result in leading to elevated numbers. Overall, it is very possible to combat hypertension with healthy lifestyle changes.
