From the Wellness Team: Wellness Wednesday Trainer Tip – NEAT Exercise
What is NEAT Exercise
NEAT stands for non-exercise activity thermogenesis, its a fancy term to describe activity that we do that is not structured exercise. Examples would be walking a dog, cleaning, doing yard work, playing with kids. All of these make up a large part of our total daily energy expenditure (how many calories we burn in a day). There are some ways in which we can increase the amount of NEAT exercise we get in a day. Parking father way, taking standing/walking breaking at work, etc. There are a loot of ways to incorporate NEAT exercise into your life. If you want to add more NEAT exercise in your life, start small to make it a habit then build from there.
